Ingrown toenails

Ingrown toenails occur when a piece of toenail grows into the surrounding skin, and can lead to pain and infection. They may occur due to the incorrect cutting of nails, tight footwear, direct trauma, picking of nails and nail shape (involuted nails which curl in the corners).

Ingrown toenail can often be managed very easily and conservatively by our Podiatrists. If the nail becomes consistently infected or inflamed and is causing a lot of pain, we will recommend partial nail avulsion surgery.
