Shockwave therapy

Shockwave therapy is an effective, evidence-based treatment our Podiatrists use in the management of Heel pain, Plantar fasciitis/fasciosis, Achilles tendinopathy and Forefoot pain. This non-invasive treatment works by increasing blood flow, stimulating healing and reducing pain.

How does it work?

  • Increases blood flow to the injured area which promotes healing

  • Inhibits Substance P (a pain mediator in our bodies) which creates an analgesic effect and reduces pain.

  • Provides an anti inflammatory effect by inhibiting the Cox II enzyme

How long is the treatment?

  • The treatment usually takes around 5 mins per site.

How many sessions will I need?

  • The average number of sessions is 3-4 over a 4-6 week period.
